Using the new Slam Hover glitch, you can just float straight to the end of the level. This skips the Fishhook Swing, Rings, and Slingshot abilities, but I found today that you technically do not need any of them to complete the game. You lose a little bit of time here and there because you don't have these powers, but the time save from skipping all of Goo Lagoon most likely outweighs the time loss.
