POWERSTOP Z17 | BrakePad Replacement | Step By Step

Описание к видео POWERSTOP Z17 | BrakePad Replacement | Step By Step

Brake pad replacement on your vehicle! Hey friend! in this video I will show you how I replaced the brake pads of my vehicle. It is a relatively easy process and can be done as long as you have the proper tools needed (and common sense). For context, it was more challenging setting up my camera angles and lighting for this video. If you don't feel comfortable doing this on your own, go and see your reputable mechanic to have it done there. I am not a licensed technician but I do enjoy working on my own vehicle as a hobby and sharing it here on this platform. DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK! specific vehicles may vary on the process, but the idea on doing this is the same.

.
FRONT CALIPER BOLT TORQUE SPEC - 25lb-ft. (according to google)
.
THINGS YOU'LL NEED:
.
-new pads + hardware
-wrenches (usually 12-14mm)
-jack stands
-light source
-brake cleaner
-brake grease/lubricant
-brake piston tool
-towels
-gloves
-eye protection(optional)
-steel brush
-torque wrench
-brake line hook
.
STEP 1 : Safely take the wheel off and put the vehicle on jackstands
STEP 2 : With your wrench, undo the 2 caliper bolts that is holding your caliper
STEP 3 : Wiggle the caliper off. Make sure you don't pull or twist the brake line at an awkward angle. It may LEAK and thats a big problem. Put it on the strut and hook it on.
STEP 4 : Remove the old pads and hardware. Use the steel brush to clean off excess dirt and dust from mounting places. Add grease before putting the new hardware on
STEP 5 : Once lube and hardware are on, lube up the ears of the pads as you slide them in place. (remove lube that gets on the rotors)
STEP 6 : Use the piston tool to push the piston back to its original place. It will sit flush with the caliper.
STEP 7 : With everything in place, slide the caliper back on and torque the bolts to spec
STEP 8 : Start the vehicle and give the brake pedal a nice push to let the piston and pad make contact. This way, you will have brake feedback as soon as you step on your brakes. (This will be done either way as you start driving your vehicle slowly when backing/driving out of the shop/garage)
