Building A Round Cage Crinoline Without Sewing Pattern

Описание к видео Building A Round Cage Crinoline Without Sewing Pattern

In this video you can watch me build a round cage crinoline without using any sewing patterns. This was definitely a challenge and I gotta be honest, I didn't really enjoy building this. But that's just because crinolines can be very tedious to build. The final result is so worth it though! And I loooove big ballgowns, so for that a crinoline is very necessary.

Materials needed:
- 40 meters of 11 mm flat steel boning
- 5 meters of fabric for the boning channels. If you're gonna use premade boning channels (which I highly recommend if you can afford it), you also need 40 meters.
- 10 meters of twill tape for the vertical strips.
- A button or a skirt hook and bar
- Interfacing for the waistband.
- Thread (obviously haha)

• Math •
Math is definitely not my best subject hahaha. We can tell from my wrong measurements, which lead me to having to add extra space. But I'm gonna try to explain it as best as I can:
You're gonna have to make markings on your hoops where the vertical tapes will be placed onto the hoops. You need to take the circumference of your hoop and devide that by the number of vertical tapes you have. The top hoop is 150 cm and I have 9 vertical tapes. So that's 150:9=16,6 cm between every strip. This mark will make up the END of every vertical tape, so the lenght of the tape falls within this 16,6 cm (for the top hoop on my crinoline).
You need to continue this for every hoop. So second hoop would be 175:9=19,4. etc etc.

After that you have to make your markings on your vertical tapes. This is where the hoops will be placed on the tapes. My waist to floor measurement is 110 cm. My first hoop starts 15 cm from my waist and it ends 25 cm above the floor. So that left me with 110-15-25= 70 cm for the hoops. This measurement varies from how tall you are and how many hoops your crinoline has. You need to devide that number by the amount of hoops. So that's 70:13=5,4. You need to make this marking 13 times on every one of your vertical tapes. You need to line up the marking on your vertical tape at the top of the boning channel and the marking you made on your hoop on the end of the vertical tape, like this:   / 303430093649735311
I think this is where I went wrong for my crinoline. I ended up missing 13 cm total and I feel like that's exactly the width of the boning channels. The crinoline instructions I looked at from other patterns said to line up the top of the hoop, but since I was missing the 1 cm width of 13 hoops, so 13 cm in the end, I think you might need to line up the bottom instead...but I'm not sure about that...Sorry for not being helpful there haha.
