The brochure for the A-Class states it best, I think;
Would you rather have a flawless diamond, or a giant cubic zirconia? Do you buy the jacket that fits you perfectly, or a larger size because it's the same price? Do you like it when someone listens, responds and remembers, or having to explain yourself over and over? If you chose "A" for all the above, there's a car for you. Innovative and inviting, the 2022 A-Class is a smaller Mercedes-Benz-but not a lesser one. The Subcompact Mercedes-Benz ran for four generations and all were front drive five-passenger vehicles. Starting in 1997 as a tall hatchback wagon, which was never offered in the US Market, allowed people to become accustomed to a small “baby Benz”, as some put it. The second generation grew up a bit in style, however, kept the same general design language. It wasn’t until the third generation appeared in 2012 that the car lost the weird design and was redesigned to a more conventional styling choice. It wasn’t until the introduction of the fourth generation W177 in 2018 that North America would see the availability of the A-class, and with it came the new “Predator Face” design that would soon cross the entire lineup. Despite the fact that the A-Class, in other markets, was available as a hatchback, in the US, only the sedan is offered.
The 1997 A-Class originally established the compact car segment of Mercedes- Benz that exists today. Since then, more than six million models have been delivered worldwide. As the seventh model, the A-Class Sedan further expands the range of Mercedes-Benz compact cars.
Our 2022 A220 4Matic was built in Rastatt, Germany in April of 2022.
The 2022 model year is the last for the A-Class in North America.
