“I am the Light of the World” (John 8:12) — these words of Jesus remind us that faith is the true light that enlightens the darkness of our lives. In this reflection, we explore the Light of Faith, beginning from our baptism, when we received the light of Christ symbolized by the Easter candle. That flame was not just a ritual—it was the gift of faith, handed down to us from those who came before us, just as Abraham received and trusted in God’s promise.

Pope Francis teaches that unless you believe, you will not be established. Faith gives us stability, meaning, and direction in a world filled with uncertainty. As the saying goes, to those who have faith, no explanation is needed; to those who don’t, no explanation is sufficient. When we reflect on the candle given to us at baptism, we remember that all the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of even a single flame, as St. Francis beautifully said.
