Even the most famous pirate of all time, Edward Thatch, better known as "Blackbeard", is said to have hidden out on the Caribbean islands and set up a base. More precisely, he is said to have settled on the islands that we know today as the British Virgin Islands. This archipelago consists of around 60 islands, has an area of approximately 150 square kilometres and is home to almost 32,000 people.
