Southern Fried Green Tomatoes Recipe

Описание к видео Southern Fried Green Tomatoes Recipe

Hey Guys! Welcome back to my channel. In todays video I make Southern Fried Green Tomatoes.
This is one of my favorite Summertime dishes. We get such a large variety of fresh vegetables from the gardens but this one is loved the most. I grew these tomatoes myself in my own garden and as soon as they were medium size I knew that I’d be frying some up to share with you all. There’s lots of different ways to cook them but cornmeal salt and pepper are my #1 method. It’s simple and you are done before you even start.
I hope that anyone who doesn’t know how to cook Southern Fried Green Tomatoes will give either of these two methods a try. You’ll love them! The dipping sauce isn’t necessary but we like it. It’s the same sauce that I make for my Fried Beef Wontons.
Ranch dressing and Texas Pete hot sauce to taste.

**I hope you enjoy the ASMR of the tomato’s frying in the video. **

Southern Fried Green Tomatoes
6 Medium Green Tomatoes
Choose the tomatoes at whatever ripeness that you like.
3 Cups Self Rising Cornmeal, Yellow or White
2 Eggs, slightly beaten
1 Cup Whole Milk
Cooking Oil
Accent
Salt
Pepper
1 Teaspoon Garlic Salt
1 Tablespoon Parsley Flakes

Salt and pepper tomatoes to taste. Sprinkle with Accent and parsley flakes.
Separate cornmeal into two bowls.
In the first bowl of cornmeal you won’t add any seasonings.
In the second bowl of cornmeal you will add the garlic salt and 1 Tablespoon of parsley flakes. Mix together.
For the egg wash you add your eggs to a small bowl and whisk. Add milk and whisk together.
Your assembly line should be like this,
plain cornmeal- egg wash- seasoned cornmeal.
1st- coat the tomato in the plain cornmeal.
2nd - dip the tomato in the egg wash.
3rd - gently coat the tomato in the seasoned cornmeal.
Make sure that all sides of the tomato is covered.
Place on a rack or a plate to rest until you are ready to fry.
Heat your cooking oil until it’s ready to fry, usually around 350 degrees F.
Fry your tomato’s in small batches until they are golden brown letting them rest on a cooling rack to drain the excess grease.
Serve plain or with a dipping sauce made with Ranch Dressing and Texas Pete Hot Sauce.

You can choose to use the above method or just coat your tomato’s in cornmeal, which is my favorite. Either way they are going to be delicious.
Enjoy!
