Idahosa Ness - Learning by Eye vs. Learning by Ear: Which is better? [EN] - PG 2017

Описание к видео Idahosa Ness - Learning by Eye vs. Learning by Ear: Which is better? [EN] - PG 2017

Talk description: In almost every language-learning program out there, you start by learning to read and write. Then you learn new vocabulary by focusing on their visual symbols (i.e. spelling or strokes). In other words, most adults learn language by eye. But some programs don’t start with reading and writing. Instead, they start with hearing and pronunciation. With this approach, you don’t learn new vocabulary by focusing on the symbols; you learn new vocabulary by focusing on the sounds. We call this approach “Learning by Ear.” In this talk, Mimic Method founder Idahosa Ness argues that learning a language by Ear helps you learn faster, understand more, and speak with a better accent.
