TIPS & TRICKS - DIY WADDING AND SEALING PAPER FOR APS CAM870 SHOTGUN SHELLS | AIRSOFT
In this episode I’m going to show you how I, in a quest to save money, made my own wadding and sealing paper for CAM870 shells. I learned this trick from BalleBlom on the Airsoft Sweden forum. and he learned from someone else and so on and so on.

EQUIPMENT:
Old cutting board
Cereal box
BB-bottle cap
CAM870 shells: http://airsoft.tiger111hk.com/p27002/...

TOOLS:
18mm hole punch
Low-tech persuader
Sharpening steel

STEP 1: PRICE
The punch set me back eight and a half dollars on eBay, and since a hundred-pack of wadding and sealing papers cost twelve dollars, that means after a hundred and forty three point three, three, three, three… meh… A THIRD circles later, I’m back in black.
STEP 2: EQUIPMENT
All you need to start making your own discs is: a 18mm hole punch, some old cereal box or other cardboard source of appropriate thickness, an old cutting board that’s outlived its purpose, a low-tech persuader, a.k.a. hammer, and a sharpening steel.
Simply place the cereal box over the cutting board, then place the hole punch over the cardboard. Hold the punch in a firm, stable grip, and let loose with the hammer.
Once you’ve made 2-3 discs, simply poke them out the punch, more than that will be too difficult to remove.
STEP 3: MAINTENANCE
When you’ve completed your daily grind. it’s a good idea to sharpen it. Start with the inside of the punch and rotate the punch at the same time. Then do the same on the outside to keep the punch in good condition.
STEP 4: COMPARISON
Let’s compare APS’s store bought parts to my homemade circles.
The plastic APS wadding is faster to load, but due to its size, six fewer BB’s fit the shell.
My homemade circles are also cheaper and more environmentally friendly than the plastic bits.
STEP 5: PROCESS
With my homemade ones I first press a disc down into the shell, then I can add up to 18 6mm BB’s, I can use the cap from my BB bottle as a measuring cup, since it surprisingly holds 18 BB’s. But that is not all, you can also use the cap as a tool to push in the wadding and sealing paper. The paper discs takes some time to produce, but removing the need to buy consumables is really comforting. I will never run out wadding or sealing papers before a game!
Both methods work fine, the BB's come flying out the muzzle and generally do their job.
But I can’t attest to accuracy nor range, since I lack the facilities for such thorough testing.
