There's a two important things to note about grocery prices in Thailand...
1. Maximum prices are set by the government on certain essential / basic food items including rice, garlic, eggs, cooking oil, sugar, wheat flour, fresh pork, instant noodles and more.
2. Grocery retailers big and small have the same prices (with very few exceptions). Even small family owned businesses can compete (on price) with big stores like Lotus's or BigC.
