Reinventing MISSused's rear end: Custom Leaf Spring Mounts for MISSused’s Ford Sterling 10.5 Axle

Описание к видео Reinventing MISSused's rear end: Custom Leaf Spring Mounts for MISSused’s Ford Sterling 10.5 Axle

It’s a big step forward for MISSused as I overhaul the rear axle with precision, creativity, and determination! In this video, I cut off the old factory cast leaf spring mounts from the Ford Sterling 10.5 replacement axle and clean it up using Benchmark Abrasives paint and rust disks. Then, it’s over to the CAD station with Fusion 360 to design brand-new, custom leaf spring mounts.

After printing paper templates, I transfer the design to 1/4" steel, cut the pieces with my Hypertherm 380 plasma cutter, clean and drill them, and weld late into the night to bring them to life. On day two, the focus is on perfect placement—measuring twice saved me, as I caught a 1/4" misalignment! I dial in the correct angle, considering driveline geometry and spring wrap, before welding everything in place and finishing with a fresh coat of paint.

Finally, see it all come together as the new axle sits proudly under the rear of MISSused. This project showcases the craftsmanship and attention to detail that pushes MISSused closer to perfection! Follow along, and don’t forget to share your thoughts and tips in the comments!
