Hydrogen chloride vs Hydrochloric acid (Differences & Similarities)

Описание к видео Hydrogen chloride vs Hydrochloric acid (Differences & Similarities)

The big difference between Hydrogen chloride and Hydrochloric acid is that Hydrogen chloride is an undissociated gas and Hydrochloric acid is dissolved in water and dissociated.

This means that if you have Hydrogen chloride it will be a gas and can be written:
HCl (g)
Note that the H and the Cl are bonded together in a covalent bond and stay together in the gas.

Hydrochloric acid, in contract, is dissolved in water. We write this as:
HCl (aq).
Since HCl is considered a strong acid, when it dissolves in water it will dissociate (split apart) into ions. This means there will be H+ (aq) and Cl- (aq) ions in the water.
