I had not intended to post, as I am currently far from home. However, I remembered I had this file on my computer for a long time, while I researched it. As I have some down time - I decided to finish the project

Evelyn Barren Pasen (1925-2025) was a Canadian classical singer who was trained first in Toronto, and later attended Juilliard in New York. In New York. She had a long career, giving public performances at the age of 6. She made her debut at Town Hall in 1945. She was later featured (here) on CBS Radio. Following these appearances, according to CBS radio records ,she had her own 15 minute show on Tuesday, evenings from 1946-48. She later returned to Toronto where she continued singing, appearing on CBC radio, TV shows, and in concert.

Ms. Pasen married in the 1950s, becoming Evelyn Dorfman. In her late 60s, she started a new career taking over the decades old family business, Thuna Herbals, in Toronto. She ran the store until her 90s, when the store closed due to rising rents. She died last year at the age of 100 years.

About this recording. This recording is a 16 inch 78 rpm acetate record. These were often used for air checks by radio station back in the 40s. Like most radio, this was a live broadcast. This air check was likely produced by Mary Howard, a trailblazing sound engineer - the first women in the US to open her own recording studio, located in NY. She produced air checks for CBS and NBC, along with releasing her own recordings. Among the singers she recorded was Ethel Waters and Toscanini. These acetate records were not made with the idea of lasting 80 + years. So the sound quality is not the best. But as I can find no other recording on-line by Evelyn Pasen - I wanted to post it - even though it is short in length.

Hopefully someone in her family may get to hear this.
