Sarson ka saag Ek traditional Punjabi winter recipe hai jiss mein istelmal hota hai Sarson ke patte, bathua aur methi. Mera aaj ka video hai traditional tareeke se sarson ka saag banane ki vidhi.
Wondering how to cook Sarson ka saag traditional way then this is it, my recipe here is a typical Punjabi home recipe cooked for winters.
Sarson ka saag is best served with Makki ki Roti (flat cornbread), white butter and gur. It is mostly prepared around the occasion of Lohri, which is celebrated in the Punjab region and some northern parts of India.

Sardi wala Saag

Ingredients

Sarso leaves 1 bunch
Palak leaves 1 bunch
Bathua leaves ½ bunch
Methi leaves ½ bunch
Muli with leaves 1 bunch
Mustard oil ¼ cup
Onion chopped ½ cup
Tomato chopped 1 cup
Ajwain 1 tsp
Jeera ½ tbsp
Garlic chopped 2 tbsp
Green chilli chopped 1 tbsp
Red dry chilli 2 pcs
Salt 1 tbsp
Coriander powder ½ tbsp
Red chilli powder 1 tsp
Makai ka atta 4 tbsp
White butter 4 tbsp

Method
Nicely wash and clean all the leafy vegetables.
Remove the radish, chop them and keep aside.
Chop all the leafy vegetables and transfer it to a pressure cooker.
In that add half of the water, some salt and pressure cook it for 2-3 whistles.
Once done, open the lid, light up the flame and mash them with masher.
Later add makai ka atta and cook it for 4-5 mins on medium flame.

Heat a pan, add mustard oil, jeera, ajwain, dry red chilli and let them crackle.
Then add chopped onion and saute.
Then add chopped garlic and cook until onion & garlic turns golden brown.
Later add chopped green chilli, chopped radish and saute them.
Now add makai ka atta and saute it for 2-3 mins.
Add chopped tomatoes and cook until it gets mashy.
Then add salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder and cook it.
Add some water to avoid masalas to burn.


Now transfer the saag mixture to the tadka and mix it.
Then add white butter and stir. Cover it with a lid and keep cooking for 8-10 mins on medium flame.
Our sardi wala saag is ready to serve.
Serve it hot with makai ki roti, bukka pyaz, green chilli, white butter and jaggery.
