Like DUOLINGO but better; LINGVIST App Review Part 1 - Language Learning App

Описание к видео Like DUOLINGO but better; LINGVIST App Review Part 1 - Language Learning App

I compare the new language learning app and website LINGVIST to popular alternatives such as Duolingo, Memrise, Anki and LingQ.

I think that Lingvist is better than all the other language learning apps I mentioned except for Busuu quite simply because the design is better but the programming and the learning theory, spaced repetition and user interaction are at least as good if not better as well.
What is Lingvist? Lingvist is a high level flashcard style vocabulary building tool, although they’re not technically flash cards: with some additional features. So it has other features… yes. But it is not a full language acquisiton program, like for example, Babbel or my favourite Busuu – in my opinion, the completely spherical, all in one complete beginner to proficient language learning program does not yet exist. Busuu is as close as anything comes, but it’s still not quite there.

Assuming you’re coming from English – Lingvist only has Spanish, German, French Russian and Estonian but if you’ve done half of your Duolingo tree, then you can definitely get onto Lingvist.
For those wanting to know how do you use Duolingo so as to best learn a language, I would argue that Lingvist is the answer. Writing in the target language rather than your language, plus a better spaced repetition system than Memrise means that you learn your target language faster and better than alternatives such as LingQ or Anki.
If you use Anki for languages and you want to know the best way to use Anki, my advice is to stop using it altogether, since too much time is taken preparing your decks and reviewing the 'cue' word rather than the target word.
