For Celebrity Chef Sir Bruno Serato, helping others is second nature. For the last 12 years, Bruno has made it his mission to ensure that children in Southern California don’t go to bed hungry. Even when his restaurant nearly burned down from a devastating fire earlier this year, Bruno was on a mission.

What started as feeding several dozen children in one Boys and Girls Club location in Anaheim has turned into feeding more than 1,800 kids, five nights a week, in more than 20 locations in 15 cities in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

Bruno’s charity, Caterina’s Clubs, is named after his beloved mother. Caterina’s Clubs has not only given more than a million hot meals to children, but the organization has also helped 95 low income families move out of motels and back into their own homes. In addition to that, Caterina’s Club has a Hospitality Academy educational program to teach these children the skills to work in the hospitality industry, so when they are old enough to get a job, they have the skills they need.

Local radio station KFI-AM 640 has been proud to partner with Serato for the last seven years for a yearly Pasta-Thon to raise funds and collect pasta and sauce to help Bruno’s effort to continue to expand throughout Southern California. He’s now expanded Caterina’s Club programs nationally, and internationally as well. To date, KFI listeners have raised more than $1.3 million and 245,000 pounds of pasta and sauce for his efforts.

The American Red Cross is proud to honor Celebrity Chef Sir Bruno Serato with the Humanitarian Award for his selfless, heroic and unwavering commitment to helping countless children and local families in need.
