Hello Everyone!

Really proud of this one. This past week I had the good fortune to interview Matt Kent (Journalist and Photographer for The Who), and my friend Jeff Slate (Musician and Journalist/Author) as we anticipate the release of the next Super Deluxe Set from the Who, 1978's "Who Are You." I've collaborated with Jeff on my other podcasts but given his history working with Pete Townshend this was a natural fit.

Matt Kent needs no introduction to Who fans. He is generally regarded as one of the world's leading authorities on all things Who related. He organised the first WHO convention in Shepherd's Bush back in 1995. He has written liner notes for many Who and related projects. He along with Andy Neill wrote the definitive book on the Who first published in 2002, "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere: The Complete Chronicle of The Who 1958-1978".

In this episode we contextually analyse 1970s Who, Pete's songwriting style at this time, coming to terms with the success Tommy, Lifehouse/Quadrophenia, and where they went from there. We discuss the album in detail, what was happening internally with the band and the goal to get Keith Moon (and the band) back in shape after some harrowing years on the road. As we know this sadly did not happen with the passing of Keith Moon shortly after the album's release.

This album has always been associated with sadness, but it certainly deserved the deluxe treatment and it's reappraisal is something we can all look forward to!
