"Just Like Heaven" by The Cure; synth cover, play along, tutorial

All credit to Robert Smith and the other members of The Cure for crafting such a timeless song. This was requested and I said I'd do it, so here it is :-). I played this the way we played it in my old Cure tribute band, Fascination Street, based out of Seattle, WA, USA.


My current band, Nite Wave (80's new wave covers), also plays this the same way, though I play bass for this song in that band. But I always loved how the strings sounded in this song, and I spent a lot of time trying to get a good sound for it back in the day.



We skip the first piano solo (it runs thru the 2nd verse) because back in my Fasc Street days it seemed to be distracting live, and for the main solo we had our Robert Smith play it on guitar. So, I never ended up playing the piano solo, but I do it here at the end just so you can see how to play it.
