I went out to Ridgewood, NJ to catch some classic EMD power leading some trains, but unfortunately I only caught 3 GP40s. The rest were either the Alstom/EMD PL42ACs or those stupid ugly ALP45-DPs built by Bombardier & Alstom. It was bittersweet because at least the PL42s are equipped with a EMD 16-710 prime mover so they sound good arriving and departing. I did also catch the Atlas engine which is neat. Track 2 was out of service due to track work and as a result all eastbound trains to Hoboken had to stop on track 1 which is unusual since they use track 2 for eastbound trains. At the end, I did catch the 4212 arriving, but I didn’t wait for it to leave since my train to Hoboken was arriving at the station. Bittersweet but a fun day at Ridgewood. Part 2 of my Summer Railfan tour.
