In collaboration with maverick spiced rum, Dead Man’s Fingers, the renowned urban climber Alain Robert, dubbed ‘French Spiderman’, scaled 755 feet unaided up the side of the City of London’s tallest building, Heron Tower today.

Alain’s first climb in London for nine years, the stunt heralded the Cornish spiced rum brand’s ‘living on the edge’ ethos.

Alain has climbed some of the world’s tallest skyscrapers unassisted, often for political reasons or to mark a specific event, including the world’s tallest building, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa (2,722 ft); Taiwan’s Taipei 101 (1,671 ft); Kuala Lumpur’s Petronas Twin Towers (1,483 ft) and New York’s Empire State Building (1,450 ft).

In London, Alain has scaled the Lloyds Building twice, in 2004 and 2009 and Portland House in 2008. Alain’s 2012 visit to the city saw The Shard take out a High Court injunction against him due to concerns he would climb the outside of the building.

Alain Robert says: “The Dead Man’s Fingers climb was challenging and also one of my favourite to date – to find a team of like-minded people that repeatedly do what they want, and not what society expects is a rare occurrence but a characteristic that has fundamentally driven me to the success I have achieved in my career.”
