String Crossing - Technique Lesson

Описание к видео String Crossing - Technique Lesson

In this bowing lesson we’ll focus on how to switch from string to string while bowing.

The most basic exercise to practice:
D0-0-A0-0
(that is, bowing twice on D then twice on A).

If you did nothing else from this lesson but this, I think you’d get the hang of string crossing!

That said, I’ll give you some more exercises.

Do the above exercise with rhythms: (tucka, hoedown, triplets)

We’ll learn a fundamental exercise called “stop n’ rock” which will help you to clean up the string change.

We’ll learn a practice pattern called peri-diddle (actually a drum pattern) which goes:
D0-0-A0-D0-A0-0-D0-A0

And also polyrhythm:
A0-D0-0-A0-D0-0-A0-D0

Though all these exercises are taught with D and A strings, you can also try them on G & D as well as A & E.

I made some “Learning Chunks” on the FiddleHed site to help you do this. These focused exercises contain sheet music, tabs and mp3 snippets to guide you on each step of your fiddle journey.

These and all new lesson pages can be viewed for one week after publication with a FREE trial membership. Check it out here: https://fiddlehed.com

And after you sign up, I’ll also send you a mini-course of lessons specially designed for your skill level.

Alrighty. Play every day, have fun 😀 and thanks for making music 🙏

Now, go fiddle with it...
