This test exercise, featuring the USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54), took place as part of Pacific Vanguard (PACVAN) 2019—PACVAN is the first of its kind quadrilateral exercise between Australia, Japan, Republic of Korea, and U.S. Naval forces.

In service since 1977, the subsonic 'Harpoon' cruise missile is widely regarded as the world’s most successful anti-ship missile and is currently utilized by the armed forces of more than 30 countries (Harpoon is designed to execute both land-strike and anti-ship missions).

Weapon Specs:

Operational range—in excess of 67 nmi (124 km) depending on the launch platform.

Unit cost—US$1,200,000 for Harpoon Block II (2011).

Guidance system—sea-skimming cruise monitored by radar altimeter / active radar terminal homing.

Warhead—488 pounds (221 kg).

Speed—537 mph (864 km/h; 240 m/s; Mach 0.71).
