The project began in 2015 with the aim of creating an Ethereum Two or Ethereum Three, but it soon evolved into its own project, requiring years of research and development before the Mainnet launch.

The Internet Computer is based on advanced blockchain technology and groundbreaking mathematics, offering serverless cloud functionality through smart contracts that are tamper-proof, unstoppable, and autonomous. This unique architecture allows for the creation of a wide range of applications, including games, metaverse services, and social-fi services, all running entirely on the blockchain, eliminating the need for traditional IT infrastructure.

Williams explained how the Internet Computer is pushing blockchain technology further, moving towards a new Web 3.0 paradigm where full-stack decentralization enables services to run exclusively under the control of decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). This shift in ownership and control from companies to DAOs is a transformative development, ensuring full transparency, security, and independence.

Furthermore, the Internet Computer is providing a powerful alternative to the traditional IT stack, eliminating the need for servers, cloud instances, web servers, and databases. This approach enables a broad range of enterprises to build innovative solutions on the network, contributing to the unbundling of Silicon Valley and the global democratization of the tech industry.

Williams highlighted the growth of ICP Hubs worldwide, where the Internet Computer community is expanding, including a significant hub in Dubai. He acknowledged Dubai's rising importance in the tech ecosystem and its role as an international nexus. Williams expressed his excitement about the opportunities in Dubai and commended Crypto Oasis for organizing the event.
