“ The name of Manapla is derived from Manang Pula, popular name of Crispula Gallo, the beautiful and generous wife of Bernardo, the first capitan of the town.
Manang Pula Festival is a tribute to the town's famous woman of substance and a celebration of the town's patronal saint, San Roque, which is held every august 16. San Roque is the patron saint of the parish.
Devotees believe that he is the "Man of God" who could heal and protect the Manaplahanons through faith in God. That could be the reason why the Manaplahanons are always blessed. The festival is also a showcase of the town's famous delicacies - the Puto and Pinasugbo. ”
