Organs are usually in churches — but this time it was a pipe organ concert in a glass building in mid-July. A real organ & electronics performance at the Stockwerk Gröbenzell.

The heat turned the space into a sauna. In the middle of the concert, my laptop crashed — right when I needed it for the electronics. For a moment I thought the whole organ concert was over.

But then came the rescue: a friend brought a bowl of ice to cool the laptop, and the technical director blasted it with a compressor. It looked absurd, but it saved the entire pipe organ & electronics premiere.

Looking back, I find it almost funny. Concerts aren’t always perfect — sometimes they’re chaotic, improvised, full of surprises. But that’s part of concert life. And in this case, it turned into a story I’ll never forget.

So yes: the music survived — fragile, overheated, but alive.
