Buckeye burl hollow form - Woodturning stabilized burl in Alumilite epoxy

Описание к видео Buckeye burl hollow form - Woodturning stabilized burl in Alumilite epoxy

This piece of buckeye burl was generously given to me by Mr Matthew Hatala a year ago when I first started turning. I'll never forget his words "I want to see what you can do with it". Knowing what the man can do and has done it put a GREAT deal of "don't fail" on this. I've always been the kind of person when given a chance to do great things, I try to not disappoint. Well, I think I did pretty good. If you haven't checked him out please do, he is on instagram as @mhatalawoodturner and facebook as Matthew Hatala. The man is a legend in the shadows, not many people have seen his work but it's truly spectacular and goal setting.
This is my first "high end" piece, I did do a maple burl hollow form a while back, but maple burl is like regular wood when doing high end stuff. You have to get that super rare stuff for the body, kind of like a bugatti. Then add all the bells and whistles.
But regardless this was a fun and nerve wrecking piece to do. I'm sure I will be doing more since they open the door for so many possibilities of creativeness.
Thanks for watching!
