On 7 November 2024, Sara Hassanpour Tamrin presented her breakthrough project, "Breaking the Wall of Early Cancer Detection," at the Falling Walls Lab Finale during the Falling Walls Science Summit 2024 in Berlin.

Sara's innovative work focuses on developing a low-cost, easy-to-use biosensing platform to detect cancer-related exosomes—nanoparticles released by cancer cells long before other biomarkers are present. By isolating and analyzing these exosomes from bodily fluids, her device can enable early cancer detection, offering the potential for more timely diagnoses and better long-term outcomes. This platform could also be used by patients at home for routine monitoring of disease progression.
