Diaper pails can really smell like crap. Literally! In this video, I will show you different ways to clean and deodorize your diaper pail and how to keep it smelling fresh. If you have an Ubbi diaper pail, you have to clean it a little differently, but we will go over that too

If you have a plastic diaper pail, then follow these steps:
The first step is simply to clean the diaper pail with soap and water. I like dawn platinum power wash for many reasons, but in this case, I’m going to spray the pail, let it sit for 5 minutes then get to scrubbing. Clean both the inside and outside and once it's thoroughly rinsed, dry it with a hand towel. Now to get rid of the smell.
Option 1.
Dissolve 2 tablespoons of borax into 2 cups hot water. Swirl it around until the borax is completely dissolved. Then add ¼ cup vinegar and add 30 drops of essential oil, tea tree oil might kill bacteria. It's a good option if you have it. Mix that all together and then spray it generously into the diaper pail. Take a microfiber cloth and rub this mixture into the sides and bottom. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then repeat the process.
A simpler method would be to spray vinegar into the diaper pail, sprinkle baking soda all over on the inside and let it sit until the diaper pail is dry, and then rinse it out.

Ubbi manufacturer does not recommend that you clean it with soap and water. This will cause the pail to rust. Wipe with a dry cloth only.
I do love my Ubbi Diaper Pail. There is no smell when the lid is closed. But when the lid is open.... that is a different story.

I recommend cleaning and deodorizing your pail every 3 months to keep the smell down. Change your diaper pail bags twice a week and consider using a deodorizer pellet or baking soda on the inside of the bag
