Lundbeckfonden Explainer | How we move

Описание к видео Lundbeckfonden Explainer | How we move

In this full-length documentary, you will hear about how the motor system, the parts of the nervous system devoted to controlling movement, works.

You will learn about how the spinal cord controls locomotion and how circuits in the spinal cord are, in turn, controlled by signals from the brainstem. Silvia Arber, Martyn Goulding and Ole Kiehn talk about how they have harnessed new technologies for studying the brain to identify specific types of neuron and how they control different aspects of movement such as speed, gait, stopping, starting, turning and skilled movements of the arms and hands.
They share their hopes for using this new knowledge to restore movement following injury or disease.
