Sensing Technologies Transforming Railway Safety and Reliability

Описание к видео Sensing Technologies Transforming Railway Safety and Reliability

PolyU researchers are reshaping the operation of railway networks with sensing technologies to enhance railway systems’ safety and reliability. Since 1995, a team has been making headway in leveraging Fibre Bragg Grating (FBG) optical fibre to enable real-time monitoring of the conditions of tracks, trains, wheels, and powerline in countries and regions including Hong Kong, Mainland China, Brazil, and Singapore, safeguarding over eight million passengers daily. Another PolyU team has helped advance China’s high-speed railway and Maglev development. Still another team of researchers is applying flexible sensing technology to detect tiny fatigue cracks in high-speed train bogie systems.
