During 1780, the British Government used to Export their Criminals in America. But after the American Revolution, this Export stopped and the British Government started looking for Alternative site and Discovered Australia.

England started transporting their criminals to Australia but due to a large number of protests in Australia, this transportation stopped. Both the Countries had a rift between them and this rift could be seen in everything but majorly in Cricket.

England played the first test against Australia in 1877 but till then the series between Australia and England had not been named Ashes.

But During a Test match at the Oval in 1882, Australia surprisingly defeated England at their home when England failed to chase a target of just 85 runs in the fourth innings.

After the Test Match, a English Newspaper "The Sporting Times" published a satirical obituary that read "The body will be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia".

England Captain Ivo Bligh then promised England fans and Media that he will win the next test series in Australia and bring those Ashes, back to England.

England won the next test series in 1882-83 in Australia and FLORENCE MURPHY burnt the bails of 3rd Test Match, packed it in a vintage perfume bottle in a red velvet bag and gifted it to England Captain, IVO BLIGH saying you can take the ASHES back to England.

After the Death of IVO BIGH, FLORENCE MURPHY gifted this URN to MCC as a part of Cricket History and this is kept at the Lord's Cricket Museum.

Since 1998, Ashes series winning captain is presented with a Crystal Waterfall Trophy and a replica of the Ashes URN.
