Listen to this Story! Books for Everyone

Professor Karen Sands O'Connor speaks about British children's books moving from about Black people to books written by and for Black people, in Black British children's literature, as part of the 2 part exhibition 'Listen to this Story! From Our Story to Everyone's Story'.

The exhibition was on display at Newcastle City Library 20th October 2022 - 20th December 2022, a family friendly exhibition exploring Black British children's publishing since the 1960s and celebrating the work of key Black British writers, illustrators and publishers. This exhibition was the companion to 'Listen to This Story! From History to Our Story,' co-curated by Newcastle University Special Collections and Archives, at Philip Robinson Library, Newcastle University, October 2022 - March 2023.

Professor Karen Sands O'Connor curated the exhibition at the Philip Robinson Library, and is author of Children's Publishing and Black Britain, 1965-2015, and writer and producer Rufaro Faith Mazarura.
