The Pennsylvania House has passed House Bill 1788 on Monday, a wide-ranging transportation funding package aimed at bolstering public transit and repairing infrastructure across the Commonwealth.

The measure, introduced by Rep. Sean Dougherty (D-Philadelphia), passed on a 108-95 vote with some bipartisan support.

HB 1788 increases the share of the state’s sales tax dedicated to the Public Transportation Trust Fund. It also earmarks funding for roads and bridges in all 67 counties and adds new oversight requirements — including performance benchmarks for transit agencies and rules governing public-private partnerships.
