Natyaroha: Alaipayuthey - Bharatanatyam solo by Nithya Ramesh

Описание к видео Natyaroha: Alaipayuthey - Bharatanatyam solo by Nithya Ramesh

Alaipayuthey Kanna is a classic Tamil song and this version is beautifully rendered by Harini, Kalyani Menon, and Neyveli Ramalaxmi in AR Rahman's music from the Mani Ratnam film Alaipayuthey.
The main bhava or emotion expressed in this song is that of "viraha" or longing due to separation from one's beloved (virahothkhandita nayika). The "nayika" or leading lady has just seen her beloved Krishna be with another woman. She is in anguish but every time she hears his divine flute music, she is mesmerized and feels conflicting emotions. Her soul longs to be with his (he is "paramatma" or the supreme being after all) and she is in great emotional pain as she feels extreme love, and devotion towards Krishna, and struggles to rationalize his indifferent hurtful behavior towards her.
