Recording Acoustic Guitar and Vocals with One Ribbon Mic

Описание к видео Recording Acoustic Guitar and Vocals with One Ribbon Mic

Recording Vocals and Guitar at the same time with one mic can be a great way to capture a performance. Using a Ribbon mic to do this is maybe not the first thing that comes in mind but It can actually produce a very nice well rounded sound that is perfectly suited to acoustic guitar and singing.

Nothing sounded too harsh through it but I did find it really helped to have it running through a good preamp.

There's a few things to consider when doing this that I thought I would share in this this video.

Firstly is where the mic will be in relation between the guitar and the vocals. Depending on what sort of sound you are after and how loud you sing and play guitar this can vary. Because I was playing soft fingerstyle guitar I found that if I bring my guitar up closer to the mic using a foot stool then it gave the right volume that I was looking for.

If your using one mic for Acoustic guitar and vocals then your're gonna need to place the mic a little further away from you to capture both sources. Because of this it will pick up a little bit of the room so keep in mind what your room sounds like and keep it away from harsh sounding walls.
