New England Trail Thru Hike Planning

Описание к видео New England Trail Thru Hike Planning

I will be hiking the New England Trail, a 215-mile national scenic trail that starts at the Long Island Sound on the southern border of CT and ends at the MA/NH border near Royalston Falls. I go over my general plans including Reasons why, Preparation, Mileage, Timeline, and Resupply. I will release two more videos detailing the gear and food I'll be taking.

Contents:
0:00 Intro
0:36 Reasons Why
2:23 Preparation
2:48 Mileage
3:37 Timeline
4:01 Resupply
5:04 Outro

Here are some resources I found helpful in planning this trip:

https://newenglandtrail.org/ - the official website of the NET, with information on the campsites along the trail (some require reservations!), an interactive map, and an accommodations map that are all extremely helpful. You can also order a set of physical maps off this website that are HUGE but can be helpful.

https://www.airbnb.com/ - I used the map feature to see where there were airbnbs not far off the trail in sections where there were no campsites or hotels nearby.

   • New England Trail   - HikingAmerica aka Constantine's videos were helpful for seeing a thru-hike of the NET in action. He finished in half the time I am planning to and did not resupply at all.

https://faroutguides.com/new-england-... - Yes, there is a FarOut guide for the NET! It costs $14.99 at the time I am writing this and has been extremely helpful in planning. You will want to get the FarOut app for your phone to use the guide for navigation purposes. From what I have heard, the guide is more accurate in the southern sections, but mileage may be way off in the northern sections where there have been reroutes. You may end up hiking more miles than you are expecting up north. The interactive map on the NET website is said to be the most up-to-date map.
