Padampura, a village in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan, has religiously and diligently practised the tradition of not cutting neem trees for generations.

According to local belief, neem trees are associated with Dev Narayan, a form of Lord Vishnu, which is why villagers do not harm these trees.

The belief in protecting neem trees is so deeply ingrained that fines are imposed on individuals who cut or harm them in any manner.

Neem twigs or leaves, known for their medicinal properties, may be used by those who need them. However, breaking them for feeding goats or any recreational purpose is strictly prohibited by the village council.
