Do Grades Matter? (from low GPA to Staff Software Engineer)

I graduated from college with a degree in computer science, the only problem was my low GPA. I see future programmers ask all the time "does gpa matter in computer science" and while there are some cases where it does, I wanted to talk about my own unique story to point out situations when your GPA doesn't actually matter.
