Cleveland Mall Memories (Vol. 1)

Parmatown Mall was a go-to shopping destination on Cleveland's west side for decades. Geyser-like fountains, huge plants and over-the-top Holiday decorations made the experience unique. The smell of Auntie Anne's pretzels filled the mall. Stores like Gadzooks, Camelot Music and PacSun were on the long list of stores that came and went. The food court was an attraction all its own, whether it was Antonio's Pizza, The Great Steak & Potato Co., Hot Dog on a Stick or Taco Bell.

Randall Park Mall on Cleveland's east side was one of the largest malls in the world. It was a shopping cathedral. Food memories include Hot Sam Pretzels, Orange Julius and Friendly's. The fragrances of Bath & Body Works called to you on your way to Athletic Attic, B. Dalton Books or Payless Shoes.

Tower City Center was very popular in the 1990's. There was a Hard Rock Cafe, Disney Store and Warner Bros Studio Store. Early that decade, you could still ride the wooden escalators in Dillard's department store. The fountains were programmed to put on shows with ribbons of water, music and steam coming out. Browns fans will remember the huge digital clock counting down the days until the Cleveland Browns returned in 1999.

This volume of Cleveland Mall Memories includes Parmatown Mall, Randall Park Mall and Tower City Center, but there were many more malls in Northeast Ohio. If you like this video, please comment or share and we will try to make more videos like this.
