Can You Daily the Mustang Dark Horse? // 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse REVIEW

The Ford Mustang Dark Horse is an absolute BEAST of a car, but can you daily drive something so monstrous and track-focused? Well, the short answer is yes. The Ford Mustang in general is a pretty great daily driver, with plenty of space, plenty of storage, modern electronics and options, and of course a ridiculously powerful 5 liter coyote V8 engine that loves to rev. In manual form, the Mustang is a pretty easy coupe to live with, and in automatic form, it is even more so... but get the manual transmission. The Mustang Dark Horse feels so intensely purposeful and meant to be driven in that way, it doesn't feel right to have the 10 speed automatic. And while the Mustang Dark Horse is more expensive than the Mustang GT with the performance pack, there are some advantages of choosing the Dark Horse over the regular GT. For example, the steering is better, or at least it feels better. The manual transmission is a Tremec rather than a Getrag... even though I don't necessarily mind the manual in the regular Ford Mustang. There's the Mustang Dark Horse styling, which is peak Mustang. The other subjective aspect of the Mustang Dark Horse that I think makes it worth getting is that it just feels more special than other vehicles you'd get around this price with a performance priority -- probably because the Corvette fan in me is biased towards anything ripping a naturally aspirated V8 as opposed to some other, less cool powertrain. And in that regard, the Mustang Dark Horse makes a fantastic daily driver for the enthusiast dad like me. Keep in mind that with older kids, I don't need the storage space and people space that someone with younger kids might need, but if you have middle school aged kids or older, the Dark Horse is quite the daily driver. Oh, and as I can personally confirm, middle school kids LOVE the Dark Horse in the school pickup line... even if Hallie is embarrassed by it :-)
