Описание к видео How One Engineer's $20 Bazooka Turned U.S. Infantry Into German Tank Killers

In June 1942, a 26-year-old Army engineer bought $2 worth of scrap pipe and changed World War II forever. What senior officers called "makeshift junk" became the weapon that destroyed over 3,000 German tanks.

This is the true story of the Bazooka—America's $20 rocket launcher that turned ordinary infantry into tank killers. From a Maryland scrap yard to the battlefields of North Africa, Italy, and the Pacific, discover how Lieutenant Edward Uhl's "crazy" idea using commercial plumbing pipe became the most cost-effective weapon in American military history. When German Panzer divisions were dominating Europe, U.S. infantry had no defense. The Army's solution cost $3,500 and required five men to operate. Uhl's solution cost $20 and one soldier could carry it.

Learn how this simple tube design penetrated 50mm of German armor, why Wehrmacht tank crews feared it more than artillery, and how it inspired every anti-tank weapon used today—from the Soviet RPG to modern Javelin missiles. Featuring declassified U.S. Army Ordnance records, Aberdeen Proving Ground test reports, and firsthand accounts from North Africa and Guadalcanal combat veterans.

From first concept to mass production in just 21 days. Over 476,000 launchers built. More than 15 million rockets fired in combat. All from a weapon that violated every military procurement regulation.
