Detroit Red Wings Kubalik, Suter, Maatta Taking on Development Roles for Newcomers

The Red Wings have released their 23-man starting roster and several youngsters are among those who have earned their spots. Skating alongside them will be a handful of relatively new faces to the organization. Dominik Kubalik, acquired in 2021-22, Pius Suter also added in 2021-22 and Olli Maata added this season, will be some of the players charged with aiding in the development of the prospects.
Kubalik and Suter, as forwards, are high-skilled and mature NHL-ers who not only have the ability to rack up points themselves but lead by example in the process. Both having spent time in Chicago, the Wings intend to place them on lines strategically to help launch Joe Veleno, Elmer Soderblom, and Filip Zadina into their next phase.
Holding the blue line, is two-time Stanley Cup winner, Olli Maata. Spending the vast majority of his career with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Maata's extensive NHL experience will be a huge benefit to the younger players hoping to solidy their spot long-term such as Moritz Seider.
