What Does Space Look Like through Binoculars?

As there are lots of really big objects in space, and as many of them appear larger than the moon, I decided to begin my journey in binocular astronomy with widefield 7x50 binoculars.

From my home in London I can see the moon and the planets and the sun and globular clusters and open clusters with binoculars but to get the really faint stuff you need to be somewhere dark. So I went to Dartmoor National Park in Devon. Thank you Fiona and Stephen and family for making me so welcome. If anyone else want to pop to the same spot its here...

This was really the first time I've had the opportunity to just kick back and look at the stars, nebula and galaxies through binoculars somewhere really dark. The last time I was on Dartmoor with binos was when I tried to shoot the Andromeda galaxy with my phone through some even cheaper binos. The results were good and I'm really pleased with the video - its my most popular one

but I didn't spend any time at all just looking. Up until now I've really concentrated on astrophotography but this experience was cool and its making me think more and more about observing. And to see the faint stuff I need to be in complete darkness. Problem is to film in complete blackness is useless. I had to have some light on me for my phone to be able to film me and that in turn ruined my night vision. I'd be really keen for more experienced binocular astronomers to let me know if you can see more with proper night vision and if so how much more. Also if anyone has any suggestions for bigger better binos (but also quite cheap as coronavirus has decimated my earnings (I make tv shows) then please let me know.
