Grano (a harvest song from Abruzzo) by Luisa Cottifogli and Gabriele Bombardini

Описание к видео Grano (a harvest song from Abruzzo) by Luisa Cottifogli and Gabriele Bombardini

"E quande voje mete" is a traditional Abruzzo song about harvest time, which I discovered when I was a little girl singing in the Galla Placidia choir of Ravenna, directed by Greca Maria Greco. When I decided to dedicate my first album to Italy (Aiò Nené, I come from the North but I'm from the South) I fished it out, arranged it together with Gabriele Bombardini and titled it Grano ("corn"): a wonderful mix between traditional and contemporary music, a nostalgia for ancient times now far away...

Traditional lyrics from Abruzzo
"E quande voje mete voje mete scappatene 'rane mi ca mo' te taje
Sti quattre jurne de la metitura spassate bella mi' co' chi te pare
Quanne ch'è finite la metiture ognune s'arrepija l'amore sue"

(And when I want to harvest run away corn for now I'm going to cut you down During the four days of the harvest have a good time with whom you wish For once the harvest is over everybody takes back his own lover)

Luisa Cottifogli, voice
