You're thinking too much and that's a problem. It's why your knuckleball is spinning and out of the zone. You need to reset. You do that by throwing a few fastballs with good technique right down the middle as if you were shooting free throws in a basketball game.

Why?

Well, you don't think when you throw a fastball. You just throw. And that process will cleanse your mind, nervous system and body so that you can get back on track learning the knuckleball. If you don't do this when you hit the skids, then you'll be spinning your wheels for that bullpen session and likely won't make any progress.

Charlie Hough had RA Dickey and I throwing fastballs to reset when we learned from him more than a decade ago. And you should too.
