What’s the best waterproof fabric? Many outdoor enthusiasts would argue that Gore-Tex Pro, by far the most widely known option out there, offers the most complete package. But what about the other options – the likes of Polartec NeoShell and the new kid on the block from The North Face, FutureLight?

Our team have been testing all of these (and more) over the last few months and comparing their performance against each other. There’ve been plenty of trips to the Alps, to Scotland, Norway and even the Canadian Rockies, with activities ranging from hiking and trail running to climbing and ski mountaineering.

Other membranes we’ve tested include Pertex Shield, Outdoor Research’s AscentShell, Patagonia H2No, Fjallraven’s EcoShell and eVent. The ones we mention in this video, however, are our current highest rated.
