The Quad Cortex is a powerful modeling and fx unit with the awesome featuring of being able to capture your amp and drive pedals. But ,with the popularity of amp capture packs, Speaker IR packs, and drive captures, you may be wondering if you NEED extra pedals and amps to make the Quad Cortex sound good? Certainly, external units and captures of amps and pedals can enhance your results in the Quad Cortex, but I don't think it's necessary. I really do believe you can get incredible tones with the stock effects, amps, cabs, and captures.

To show you, I've recorded a shootout of tones I've made using solely stock effects, captures, and amps in the Quad Cortex up against my go-to pedalboard tones from the: Deep Six, Bender Fuzz, Belle Starr, Moonshine, Mobius, Timeline, BigSky, and ACS1. I think the results are pretty darn close!

Say good-bye to your pedalboard... kidding. But in actuality, the Quad Cortex is a pretty fantastic unit. And the stock sounds can certainly provide tons of high quality tones whether or not you add in external pedals and amps.
