The Kalimera Kriti Hotel & Village Resort, Crete. A name that once evoked excitement and promise, but now, it's a mere reminder of the most awful experience that you can get on Crete. As I sit here, reflecting on the horrors that transpired, I'm left with a sense of utter disappointment and disillusionment.
Let me take you back to the beginning, when I first set foot in this supposedly 5-star resort. The location was great, I'll give them that. But, little did I know, that was the only redeeming quality. As I made my way to my room, I was greeted with the most appalling sight - old, smelly, and far rooms. It was as if they took all the old furniture from the 70s, slapped a fresh coat of paint on it, and called it a day. I mean, who does that? The toilets inside the rooms were absolutely horrible. I felt like I was transported back to the dark ages.
But, I thought to myself, maybe the service will make up for it. Oh, how wrong I was. The service was terrible, as if nobody cared if we enjoyed our vacation or not. Our room was near the bar, so we had the pleasure of listening to karaoke until the wee hours of the morning. The kids couldn't sleep, and neither could I. It was like they wanted us to be miserable. And don't even get me started on the noise. It was as if the whole resort was designed to be loud and obnoxious.
And then, there was the issue with the security cameras. Or should I say, the lack thereof. When my luggage disappeared waiting for the transfer to the airport, I was shocked to learn that there were no security cameras on the premises. What kind of resort doesn't have security cameras? It's like they're begging to be taken advantage of. And when I asked about it, the staff just shrugged it off, saying they didn't take any meaningful steps to help me recover my lost luggage. I was left on my own to deal with a serious issue that completely disrupted my stay.
