On December 24th, 2017, we challenged ourselves to complete the Rapha #FESTIVE500 in one day.

We left LA at 12:00AM on Christmas Eve and came back at 3:00AM on Christmas Day, after riding along the coast to San Diego. For 16 out of 27 hours we rode at dark, and had to keep charging our lights, computers, and cameras on the go. Every open corner shop or gas station was precious - many of them were closed early for the holiday. Couldn't pass on a hot sip of coffee! Having to endure cold nights, strong winds, and numbing fatigue for hours, it was only our collective enthusiasm and teamwork that kept pushing us forward, even if it took us slightly more than the planned 24 hours!

We bonded our friendships over the ride, and learnt a lot from each other's experiences. Coming back home to LA depleted, cold, and hungry, we laughed, sat down rubbing our cold hands, and couldn't believe we actually did it!

It was Christmas Day. We rested, and went back to our families and friends. Surprisingly, we were one of the first few in the US to complete the 500 challenge. We still had a whole week till New Years. Few of us finished with 800 and 700 km weeks. What a great transition to a new year!

Now it's time for the race season. And some big upcoming rides in 2018!
