Ina Penafrancia sa Intramuros 2019

The Processional Images of Nuestra Senora de Penafrancia de Naga and the El Divino Rostro (the one being used during the Traslacion and Fluvial Processions), graced the streets of Intramuros for the first time in 40 years during the Intramuros Grand Marian Procession last December 1, 2019 together with the Penafrancia Devotees Association of Manila, Our Lady of Penafrancia Association, and the Basilica Minore of Our Lady of Penafrancia through the Penafrancia Young Professionals. Also with them are the Cofradia de San Jose (who serves as guardians of the images during the processions), the Santolan Brass Band, the Basilica Antioch Band, and the devotees.

Local artisans carved this image in 1710 based on a picture of the Virgin owned by a Spanish priest assigned in Naga. It is said that a dog was killed and its blood used to color the wood of the statue. When the statue was finished, the dog returned to its master. The Virgin of Penafrancia was canonically crowned as Queen of Bicolandia in 1924.

The Callejera image is the one used during the Traslacion and Fluvial Processions in lieu of the original. It was commissioned after the violent treatment of the Voyadores during the Traslacion of 1991.
